Who will take over when you leave since all the Jews are leaving? For whom are you bodek? Aren’t you moving to EY where you will also be bodek?

Many hold if he sells his house to a non-jew before Pesach, he is not responsible to do bedikah.

Rebbitzen, you are so sure about yourself, i am not. Over here he will never return, so he gives up ownership of his house and has no responsibility towards it. This is similar to moving thirty days before Pesach where I think he will not have to be bodek the old place at most he can be mevatel. The SA is talking in a case where he will return sometime.

No, you are leaving before night, so you have no chiyuv of bedikah since you won’t return for Pesach you won’t have to be bodek.

Rebbitzen, the halacha SA O”CH 436 is that if you want to leave early less than 30 days before and you figure you will return before Pesach, you don’t have to wait but be bodek the night before you leave.. If you don’t want to return, you don’t have a responsibility to be bodek. Others say that if he wants to return for Peasach but not before , then he always has to be bodek before he leaves.

They say that potatoes were not available at the time of the Geonim, so the gezara was not on it even though we make flour from it.

Rebbitzen, in SA O”CH (681,4) mentions a custom to go to the grave of tzadikim Erev Rosh Hashanah. The reason is indicated by the MB is that the place has holiness where tzadikim are burried and the tefilos are listened to easier without interference. This might answer your question about asking them to intercede to be a melitz yosher at the their grave site.

There is nothing wrong to ask the tzadikim to intercede as we find by Kolev Bamidbar (13,22). Similarly, the Rebbe is a conduit as the Kohaniim by Birchas Kohanim.

A person is not believed when he says he is a rasha. He is not suppose to give up but to strive to improve himself. This is the purpose of life to climb the ladder slowly to reach the heavens as Yakov Avinu envisioned in his dream.

The Torah designates the beginning of the year of counting months from Nissan, so Adar is the end of the year 12th month. We must make Pesach in the spring as it says Chag Haaviv, so when they noticed that Pesach did not come out in the spring, at the time when Rosh Chodash was designated through witnesses, another month was added, see Rambam Hilchas Kidush Hachodash (4,1). On Purim Katan we don’t say ืœืžื ืฆื— which is interesting since we don’t find too many times when we don”t say it, but ‘ื–ื” ื”ืงื˜ืŸ ื’ื“ื•ืœ ื™ื”ื™ there is a potential for it to be Purim Gadol by not adding a leap year month.

There is a shaila in Ksav Sofer if we should make a sudah on Purim Katan. The Shulchan Aruch starts with with ืฉื•ื™ืชื™ ื”’ ืœื ื’ื“ื™ ืชืžื™ื“ that is ื™ืจืื” fear, and it finishes with ื˜ื•ื‘ ืœื‘ ืžืฉืชื” ืชืžื™ื“ that is ืื”ื‘ื” love. This is the meaning of ืฉื ื™ ืชืžื™ื“ื™ื ื›ื”ืœื›ืชื referring to the Shulchan Aruch above. So, if you have a kind heart willing also to share your meal, by giving ืžืฉืœื— ืžื ื•ืช then you can also have a sudah.

Think of ืื™ื–ื”ื• ืขืฉื™ืจ ื”ืฉืžื— ื‘ื—ืœืงื• the one is rich who is happy with what he has, so don’t worry about things you cannot do anything about and you will sleep better.

The Kol Bo says that the Torah patters the women from time dependent mitzvos because their responsibility is towards their husband and family, so davening with a minyan was never their responsibility.

TheFakeMaven, you are asking a very good question The Deroshas Horan, 7 explains on the gemorah of the oven like a snake in Baba Metziah where they did not want to accept Rebbi Eliezer’s view because Torah is not in the heavens, that once it was given down on earth, we must understand it with human understanding. It looks like what we learned over here can be transferred to to the next world. Rabbah was taken away before his time to mediate the argument on a baheres so we must have some human faculties in the next world.

TheFakeMavin, You are saying that the highest level is ื ืคืฉ ื”ืฉื›ืœื™ืช which decides between ื ืคืฉ ื”ืืœืงื™ืช and ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช. Maybe that is where Freud got the id/individual desire, ego/morality, super ego/Religion/Torah.

The gemora in Perek Chelek asks this question. It compares this to two people, a blind one and a lame one, seeing a fruit tree. Each by itself cannot get the fruits but they get it together. The blind one picks up the lame one on his shoulders and they enjoy the fruit together. Similarly, the body and soul , each alone cannot sin, but together they do. Hashem puts the soul in the body and get punished together. The sechel is not an entity on its own but its gets rewarded and punished togerher with the neshama.

We have ื—ื›ืžื”, ื‘ื™ื ื” ื“ืขืช. The first is wisdom, recognizing there is a problem by looking at the highest level of purpose. For example from Aesop fables, a bird with a big beak could not drink from a pitcher, so he threw in some pebbles to make the water rise. It is important not to concentrate too much at the pitcher as there might be water elsewhere. The highest level of purpose is to attain water. The second is understanding, comparing one item to the other and see if they are similar or not. The Chasam Sofer in Chulin 7 says that this is the purpose of a rebbi, teacher to be able to differentiate. The third is the most important one. It is the new knowledge we acquire.

sqrt[2], they are both contributing factors. I don’t knpw if they are the only factors.

You have four categories ื“ื•ืžื, ืฆื•ืžื—, ื—ื™, ืžื“ื‘ืจ the inanimate, plantations, living and speaking. In Parshas Breishis ืกื•ืฃ ืžืขืฉื” ื‘ืžื—ืฉื‘ื” ืชื—ืœื” what was created later, was the original purpose of creation. The purpose of creation was the human being able to think and express himself by his mouth. We make a birchas HaTorah for writing as it is another means of expressing ourselves. Everything else was created before him like a prepared table. The human being only has a neshama helping him to think. There are 25 levels of neshama ื ืคืฉ, ืจื•ื—, ื ืฉืžื”, ื—ื™ื”, ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” so he can have ื ืคืฉ ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, ืจื•ื— ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ…. ื ืคืฉ ืฉื‘ืจื•ื— and so on. As we become greater, the yetzer horah becomes greater. It cannot be stronger than the neshama can take. When we exhaust its strength, a higher level of neshama is provided. See the Sefer Habris and the Sefer Hachinuch Mitzva 350.

As a joke, there was a shochet/katzev/rav who was very much machmir considering everything tref. They said to him you are a machmir like a dog who wants to make everything tref in order that he should get everything, as the Torah commands to throw tref to the dogs.

The gemora in Bava Kama describes a similar situation. A man had two wives, a young one and an old one. The young one would pull out his white hairs whereas the old one would pull out his black hairs, so he said, I am ืงืจื— ืžื›ืืŸ and ืงืจื— ืžื›ืืŸ, bold from either side.

Thinking is through the moach which contains the neshama and the sechel as we say on Tefilin.

I was unclear above. The reason that there is no mazel because we can ask Hashem to override the mazel through tefIla and because of maasim tovim. See the end of Maseches Shabbos.

ืื™ืŸ ืžื–ืœ ืœื™ืฉืจืืœ but tefila and maasim tovim help, so good luck means we should be worthy that Hashem override the mazel.

Look at the Rambam at the begining of Perek Chelek that each age does things for different reasons. When he grows up, he learns to do mitzvos for the right reason as mentioned above.
